Happy New Year!

I hope that you have a wonderful year ahead of you. I love thinking about the months ahead. There will be time for new techniques, new patterns, and new quilts.

I started the November Mystery Quilt by Bonnie K. Hunter. She entitled it "Easy Street."   It has been fun. I must admit that I started late. Bonnie has been giving out clues wach Friday since the last of November. I started my quilt the day after Christmas. Things were back to normal and I could actually find time to sew. I must tell you I have been sewing like a wild woman. I have completed parts 1, 2, 3, and 4.  My goal is to complete parrt 5 and 6 tomorrow... that may be tricky... I have an appointment in the morning.  Hmmmm! Time will tell.

The first day of 2013 is nearly done. It was peaceful and productive. I hope there are many more such days.

The end of 2012 is fast approaching. I have not posetd on my blog at all. Bad, bad, bad. I must do better. When family left after the Christmas celebration I started the mystery quilt that Bonnie Hunter has going on her "Quiltville" blog. I want to be able to share what I have done and I must be able to link to my blog. Hmmmm. I must learn to do that as well. Yesterday I completed 192 four patch blocks. Today I did 128 double brick blocks and cut pieces to sew 128 flying geese. I am headed back to the sewing room to do some more sewing and cutting. Wish me luck.

Poor Neglected Bolg

Here I go again. I am determined to restart and continue with this blog. Life certainly did get in the way last fall and carried into winter. I won't bore you with the details... but let's just say I was sick. My dear husband will vouch for me. He was a wonderful caregiver.

Lufkin has a wonderful quilt guild. The meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at St Paul's United Methodist Church. All of the ladies and gemtlemen that I have met have been so kind. They have made me feel welcome. The Quilt Guild of the Pineywoods holds a quilt show every other year. The show was held in April of this year. It was a lot of work but there was also plenty of fun. I was allowed to work as much as I wanted. I did serve as a scribe for one of the judges. I learned a lot. Judging is hard work. I don't think I ever want to do that job.

Above is a quilt that the "Sew What Bee" did in a class last year. Several members entered their quilts. Each one looked so different.

Cold Front

Cold front. Yes, that is what the weatherman said. It is hard to believe but our high was only 95 degrees today and we were celebrating. I have totally lost count of the number of days we have had triple digit temperatures.

I think that the hot weather has totally cooked my brain. I forgot my password for writing on my "new blog." I was determined to think of it. How dumb was that. I finally gave up and reset my password. Now I can post and share all the things that are going on here in East Texas.

I have been working on a quilt for my DGS. He likes dinosaurs, so dinosaurs are marching across it. The pattern came from Fat Cat Patterns http://www.fatcatpatterns.com/ . I have to do the hand sewing on the binding and put a label on it before his birthday. Have a look.

New Surroundings

Last summer my husband and I decided to move to East Texas. We had lived in the Houston area for over 30 years. You might imagine it was quite a change. It was. Fortunately most of the changes were for the better. We love it here.

I am just now getting back to my quilting. I like to live in both the world of traditional quilting and that of art quilts. I invite you to join me as I share my quilting journey with you.
